Gain confidence and show them you’re not the weak one

When I first started this blog in July last year, I was so determined to not be one of those people who only wrote a few blog posts and then disappeared off the face of the Earth… But yep, you guessed it, I lost my motivation and had this feeling that nobody was interested in anything I had to say. Alongside this, I was living a crazy life and was filling my time with so many things that when it actually came to any “me time”, I simply wanted to sit and do something relatively mind-numbing… I didn’t have the desire to write anymore and I was scared of what certain people would say. After gaining such a lot of initial support, I FELT as though I was really letting certain people down, whether that was actually true or not, I have no idea.

Anyway, I’m hopefully back on this now. I quite frankly don’t really care if people don’t read this, I want to write and I want to feel like I’m achieving something for me. So read ahead or don’t – it’s completely up to you!

So, today’s topic: Gain confidence and show them you’re not the weak one. This idea came to me a few days ago, when I was sitting at home with a friend. We were having a catch-up about life in general and she mentioned how she felt as if she was being undermined in many aspects of her life. I have to say, I understood how she felt completely…

Being undermined and undervalued by others is something I have struggled with for a few years. I’m pretty sure it’s not uncommon at this stage of anyone’s life. Trying to find your feet within your career and your personal life is hard, and nobody ever tells you how long it takes (I have been alive for 20 years and working for 7 and I feel as if I will never get there!).

The thing is, I strongly believe that this constant image we see of people who really have their lives “together” is complete and utter bullshit. Tell me honestly, do you know ANYONE who has got their life completely sorted? Yeah, they may be married with kids, a great house and the sweetest dog you’ve ever seen… But does that mean they don’t have hardships or they haven’t had to deal with heartbreak? No. Life can be so shit and these people who think they can fool you with their “perfect” lives should try and learn to be more honest.

Whilst I think there are huge issues within this image so many of us are trying to create, it does make me feel very intrigued. If you have confidence in your life and your ability, do others automatically feel the same about you? Are you less likely to be undermined?

It got me thinking, that’s for sure. Are you letting yourself down by undermining yourself and your abilities? Should you try and feel more confidence so that others believe it just as much as you do? I know it’s much more easily said than done, but it may be worth trying. If you think you’re good at something, say you are. If you want to create opportunities, you have to make them yourself. Nobody is going to make them for you.

Have confidence, you never know where it could get you. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something – they are wrong and you can prove it. Hold onto your opportunities with both hands and you can go far!

Thank you so much for reading ❤
