Giving yourself the credit you deserve

If I’m going to be honest, I kind of thought I had been talking to myself with my previous two posts… Only to have a look at my stats this morning and see that people are actually reading what I have to say. So, a special hi to those people who seem to be interested in what I’m writing and thank you – you glorious people are really encouraging me to carry on with this. I am a bit overwhelmed as I’m pretty sure most of you are strangers considering I haven’t quite been brave enough to tell many people about this, so that is even more crazy. Thank you!

Saying this, I finally plucked up the courage earlier in the week to tell a lovely friend about the blog. She said she loved it (okay, she probably isn’t going to say it’s rubbish but I do trust her opinion so I’m pretty over the moon with that). I have also received a really exciting email recently. More news to come on this when I’ve got more info!

Anyway I think, with all of this encouragement, I have decided from here onwards I’m going to try and be more open about this little blog of mine and see what people think.

Ok, sorry for the little rant there… Now onto today’s post: Giving yourself the credit you deserve.

Self-esteem issues are all too common these days. It is something that constantly saddens me and I hate how some people just cannot see their true worth. On the other hand, I am often amazed by what some can achieve when they have (what seems like) the entire World against them.

Just last week, I got sent a picture of a quote by one of my friends… And, if I’m going to be honest, it really struck a chord. The picture read “It’s okay if all you did today was survive“. I LOVE THAT!

Let’s face it, some days just aren’t the best. Some days, it’s a struggle to get out of bed and plaster on your best smile… But somehow, despite it all, you get through it – you are here reading this post… And I think that is AMAZING. Well done you! Patronising, I know. But I think we could all use a bit of encouragement from time to time.

So, whilst giving yourself a pat on the back for simply getting through the day may not come naturally to most, give it a go – you could be amazed by how much this might help build self-confidence.

You completely and utterly deserve to feel good and to give yourself credit. In my eyes, you are doing an incredible job. Please don’t compare yourselves to others; they are not you and you are not them.

I hope this post isn’t too patronising as that was never my aim. I just want people to believe in themselves a bit more… If you know someone who is struggling, reach out to them and remind them of the amazing job they are doing – you could really help turn someone’s day around.

Thanks so much for reading, I really appreciate it! 🙂

P.s – One of my favourite quotes is: “On particularly rough days, when I’m sure I can’t possibly endure… I like to remind myself that my record for getting through bad days so far is 100%, and that’s pretty good.” I felt like it tied in quite nicely to this post so I hope you like it 🙂

it's okay if all you did today was survive.
